The United States accounts for over one-fourth of coronavirus infections in the whole world, making it the worst-hit country. As the deaths from the pandemic approach 160,000, former vice president Joe Biden blasts Donald Trump once again for his handling of the pandemic, telling him to take action.
The Guardian reports that Biden criticized Trump on Tuesday via Twitter, with the presumptive Democratic nominee telling him to take action as president. Biden also referenced Trump’s remarks back in July that the coronavirus would, like many treatable seasonal illnesses, would simply disappear.
“On July 1st, Donald Trump predicted the coronavirus was going to “just disappear.” He was wrong — and more than 25,000 Americans died due to the virus last month. Mr. President, step up and do your job before even more American families feel the pain of losing a loved one,” tweeted the former vice president.
Aside from the millions of infected Americans paired with tens of thousands of deaths, the pandemic has also upended millions of Americans financially as businesses were forced to close down out of safety concerns. Schools and other educational institutions have resorted to online classes to keep up with the curriculum. However, millions of Americans are now facing possible eviction and homelessness, including a return to financial instability as the government relief efforts have expired last week.
The pandemic has also brought the rampant issue of inequality to light, as the coronavirus has affected Black, Latin, and Native American communities more. Women have been affected the most from its economic crisis more than men as well.
As both candidates ramp up campaigning efforts in the remaining months leading up to the election, the Daily Mail reports that Facebook has removed a pro-Trump campaign ad that was seen to be spreading misinformation about the former vice president. The ad was made by pro-Trump super PAC America First Action.
The ad in question was aimed at North Carolina, Wisconsin, Arizona, and Pennsylvania, designed to make Biden look like he was going to defund the police — a call many far-left progressives have pushed for. Biden has repeatedly stressed that he will not defund the police.
This was not the first time Trump campaign ads were flagged on the site. In June, 88 ads from the Trump campaign were taken down as it featured an inverted red triangle – a symbol that Nazis used to label their political prisoners.
